Hi and welcome to my blog! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting and do come back.

It’s always so comforting to know that wherever in the world you go, whatever concert you are watching there will always be a South African flag in the audience.

I am watching the Live Earth concert on SABC 2. However poorly the SA side of the concert was handles, the UK one is phenomenal, great bands ans well orchestrated. Today will mark my climate change.

I am going to make a point of buying energy saving light bulbs, I will purchase my music online instead of buying CDs, I will try to recycle, save electricity, not keep my heater on, heated blankets, lights etc etc etc etc…

Many South Africans (myself included) blogged about the disappointing Live Earth line-up here in SA, but we all missed the point. The concert needs to illustrate effectively to 2 billion people that we (the middle-upperclass) can make a MASSIVE difference in our daily lives. We are destroying the world. This is our biggest issue right now, not war, religious battles, capitalism or any other cause. It is us destroying our Earth.

Preaching is not my forte. Get on to SABC 2 now and watch the concert for yourself.

This is it:

UB40, Joss Stone, Angelique Kidjo, Baaba Maal, Danny K, The Parlotones, The Soweto Gospel Choir, Vusi Mahlasela, and Zola.

What is that? Every other venue just about gets the biggest baddest bands in the world but we get South African Acts (WHICH ROCK MY WORLD) that I can see any time, any where in SA. I love the local bands, they are lekker, but lets be honest, Live Earth is meant to be raising awareness by recruiting the world leaders in music… AHEM.

Some of the artists we wont see:

Jack Johnson
Snoop Dog
Katie Melua
Dave Matthews Band
Red Hot Chilis
Foo Fighters
David Grey
Akon
Paolo Nutini
John Mayer
Madonna
Block Party
GENESIS
Black Eyed Peas
Beastie Boys
Keane

AND MANY MANY MORE.

Why do the international organisers of this sort of event always screw SA. It happened at the Live 8 concert too. We were an afterthought and a concert was thrown together.

I will probably not be attending the conert. No thanks, I don’t like being second fiddle.

The Chumps have done it again and broken a story that just blew me down and brought a lovely tear to my eye.

Live Earth is a massive world wide concert that is being held to try and make the world aware of the climate issues we are facing. The artists are trying to rally support for our Earth so lets keep our eyes peeled and our wallets full enough to purchase a ticket.

Word has it that the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, the Foo Fighters and Fall Out Boy will be coming to SA. If that is the case I am sold, in, there, going, gone, done and dusted. I love this game.
