A quick rant about apocalyptic users moaning about the new terms and conditions that Instagram (a 100% free service) is imposing.
When there is a single case of a photograph owned by a user being used by Instagram without anyone’s permission I’ll give a shit about these new terms.
Until then, get over your ego. No one wants your photographs of a cappuccino, sock, self or sunset in an advert (or anywhere else for that matter).
The people who should be concerned are the famous folk among us. Imagine Gaga or Biebers faces appearing in a Facebook advert without their permission.
But really – Instagram using your photographs is quite close to winning the lottery, just bad.

What you don’t consider is how this can impact photographers and artists such as myself. In the extreme case, a company that may have hired me to take photos for them now has the ability to cut a check to instagram to use one of the hundreds of photos already created. Without that person ever getting credit. While you’re right that 99.99999% of photos won’t make the cut, the photos that stay threaten an entire creative industry. Will it come to this, probably not – I’m being a bit over-the-top, but the possibility for major exploitation will now be there.
I use Instagram as a social media tool, as well as a way to build my network and business. I do upload good photos, a lot of them, mixed in with my on-the-go stuff. The chances are slim to none one of my photos will be bought given the 5 billion photos on Instagram, but the new TOS basically turns instagram into one big stock-photo site ripe for picking.

I hear you Nick, but I fall into the camp of people who believe that pro photographers should be uploading mobile photos as any normal user would. Pro photos have their home on photographers websites.
But like you said, I'm also being extreme and know there are exceptions.

Agree. If anything this new move will stop professional photographers uploading their photos taken with massive lens and get Instagram back to users sharing experiences with their phones.
