Not surprisingly though, I think there will be a few worker bees who will find this opens their eyes and shows them how the industry can take advantage of some. In the same respect, there are definitely a few positions out there that are sitting with decent pay. I agree with Saul and Nic on the difference between online and advertising amounts… especially when everyone in the design industry is aware that an Ad agency will pay small bucks for the first few years until the bee is more experienced. Online is in the same ball park, so where does this difference in pay come from?

Interesting – looks like the Jo’burg/Cape Town discrepancy is narrowing in the online sector. It’s not nearly as pronounced as in some of the other sectors. Good news for us Capetonians

Ye Saul – very interesting to note that only people with 5 years + of experience are earning near Advertising salaries. But I really think that this “survey” is just that, a very broad survey and shows quite blanket results.

Would love to know how the data was correlated.

Thanks for this post Nic, it was very informative.

I’m intrigued though how little online people get paid in comparison to say advertising agency employees. It almost seems like there is no real reason to justify the massive discrepancy?
