Coldplay jumps on download “revolution”

by Nic Haralambous on 29/04/2008

I just received an email about Coldplay releasing their new album. It’s coming in june. But for those die hard Coldplay techie’s you can head over to their website from Tomorrow at 11:15 SA time and download the first song off their new album.

They join the likes of Radiohead with this endeavour. It seems like the download era is beginning in all sincerity and bands are starting to realise the power that their listeners hold…online.

I guess you’ll be paying nothing for the album if they follow the same suite as Radiohead did with their “you decide how valuable our band is” price plan???

Reminds me of a line from 40 Year Old Virgin:

“You know how I know you’re gay? You listen to Coldplay!”

    It’s a cool song.

Tried to get the download link last night for two different e-mail addresses, truthfully giving my country as ZA and still have no e-mails from those attempts. After searching Twitter using Summize this morning I saw someone had a similar problem until they said their country was UK. I tried the same and received the e-mail with the link almost immediately.

Ye Steve, took me about 24hours to receive the email hey. But got it this morning. Still getting in to the song I think.
