I finally found a use for Facebook

by Nic Haralambous on 6/11/2007

Eventually I did something worth while with Facebook today. I conducted an interview for SA Rocks with a girl who lives in the US of A.

That’s about the most productive personal thing I’ve done on FB in the last 4 months.

Hi Nic – that was a quick point, but its far more productive [work-wise] than I’ve ever been using facebook. Not sure what you were implying by it, but got me to thinking how its changed our reality… do you remember how we stayed in contact with [or even just found] friends before fb? Kinda strange that the [wired] new gen of 10 – 15 year olds building friendships now won’t ever experience life without that connectivity.

You know Darren I use FB for work because my job calls for the market that is on FB. Otherwise, I am a private kind of guy and honestly, if I wanted to find old friends I would look them up, but I don’t.

The way I see it is if you knew me and now you don’t there is a good reason for that, one that I have chosen.

In terms of networking and working, like I said, that interview was one of the first promising things i’ve done 100% on FB. I think FB is a massive fad that like everything else before it will fall to a bigger, better, newer idea.

Thanks for your comment though, appreciate the engaging approach!

True of all businesses and business ideas, Nic. As Microsoft found itself in an invincible position, and then quickly proceeded to be dethroned, so Google finds itself precariously poised right now.

Who was it that said “the bigger they are, the harder they fall”?

I like what you said about privacy and tend to share the same views [No, I do not have 298 friends on fb], but I stand by the comment that they have changed the world. Oh, and btw, you’re totally right – SA Rocks!

Hey thanks Darren, it’s pretty clear that this blog has suffered but it’s all in the name of the SA Rocks blog so it’s a great price to pay!!
