The importance of weekend blogging

Hi and welcome to my blog! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting and do come back.
I have noticed that over the last 4 or 5 months over the weekends my blogs drop significantly in visits.
This is definitely due to the lack of blogging that I do over the weekend, but I think it is also due to the fact that many people like to leave their computers and the internet alone over the weekend. They don’t check their RSS and they don’t visit the blog aggregators. This means they don’t necessarily read your (or my) blog.
Is there value in blogging over the weekend? Is it actually important. I even find that the international blogs that I subscribe to calm their blogging down over the weekend. Will people even read what you post, or simply wait until Monday when they get to work and read their RSS readers?
I am not convinced about the value of blogging. I think that I would much much rather post a good blog post on a Monday when I know that people will read and comment than post it over the weekend with little response.
What do you think?

I think so too - the good Monday post, but I try to slip in one on the weekends. I think in South Africa, at least a lot of people access computers from their places of employment.
As you will see at my site, I blog daily. I used to leave blogging over weekends.
It makes some difference to the stats but not that much that it will see the site slip off the edge of blogosphere.
Mondays were volume hit days for me. With the weekend recess over and back in office, the addiction needs to be kept sweet so people come calling.
However, Lately I have found a maturity to the Monday his. They are not wh\t they used to be. Diminshed. Why?
Because people have work to do and there is only one place where ‘play’ comes before ‘work’- the dictionary.
Once the Monday workload is dealt with and the week planned, the hits pick up from Tuesday.
So it is a case of swings and roundabouts for me.
ANd usually I have a minimum of 4 blogs sketched out ahead of time, so if I want to I can edit, add and complete them to auto-publish in the future and go on leave not having to worry about constructing an article tomorrow.
For example, today I have complete Monday’s and Tueadays articles. Now I can do what I wanna do.
I am off to the beach. Bye. Errr sorry, not the beach - the supermarket instead. I am in UK afterall!
Nic,
I note that you and Eishman have the cartoon pics of yourselves. I want one too. How to do it?
Hi Nic,
I am unfortunately more limited by available time than anything else, and tend to do more blogging at the weekend than during the week. Or if I can blog in the week it might be shorter due to time.
I haven’t been doing this long, but I always had a feeling that visits to my blog decreased at the weekend. To be honest though, I have never had a sudden influx of readers on a Monday morning - so I guess my hunch was off.
I must say that I do find that on SA Rocks if I blog over the weekend my hits will raise from previous weekend of no blogging. But it’s monday when the weekend blogging pays off.
I do actually find a massive boom in hits on a monday (100-200 unique visitors increase). So I think that weekend blogging is VERY relative to your audience and even more relative to your RSS subscribers.
On this blog my subscribers have wained due to lack of blogging while on SA Rocks I am creeping up on 100 consistent subscribers. This makes a massive difference to my hits.
Robert: What image of myself are you refering to? MYBlogLog image? That profile size image? Or possible my facebook image? Let me know, send me a pick and i’ll hook you up with a cartooned Rob or two maybe!!
