The IPhone - Can It Make Calls?

I think the IPhone is hot. So does everyone else. I have yet to read a post from any blogger talking about the basic functionality of this groundbreaking phone.
Can this phone send a text message? Can I make a call and will it be crystal clear? If it can’t do these two basic things properly then I don’t want it.
I mean that. I want to be able to do the basics incredibly easily with an almost 100% success rate before I know that I can teleport myself to planet Zookefrokenbakc and back with the IPhone.
So I ask again, has anyone made a call or sent a text message using the IPhone?
Ummm YES! It is an incredibly easy to use phone, an incredibly easy to use sms text device, an incredibly easy to use etc etc etc. I have seen the future my friend, it is now, it is iPhone. Ive had mine a full weekend and it is the most amazing bit of technology i’ve seen since my Apple II back in the 80’s. It changes EVERYTHING.
Thanks for letting me know, honestly was asking a question, and making a point. All people were talking about were its features, but none of the post i read (before release) were about its cellular phone capabilities.
Thanks for clearing that up and thanks for reading my little post all the way from South Africa where the phone wont be released for AT LEAST another year. The joy’s of the South my friend.
