Locally Hosted SA Site Will Not Succeed

Hi and welcome to my blog! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting and do come back.
There is a very good reason for this I might add, it has to do with expensive and ineffective hosting packages offered.
SA Rocks is now down due to exceeding of bandwidth limits. Brilliant. So what hosting organisations in SA are saying is they are happy to take our money but will only let our sites run up to 2GB per month of bandwidth. What rubbish.
There is no promotion of success, no assistance to become a prominent website, it is as if hosts just don’t want to see local sites succeed. Why, why is it not possible, what is wrong with this damn industry?
I am now forced to either pay 9c per mb over 2GB, or host internationally, both are lose lose for me. Does anyone have any fast and effective suggestions?
Update: My hosts have been extremely gracious and increased my bandwidth for the last days of this month. What nice guys/girls!

host off shore, visit http://www.guymclaren.co.za and contact me for more details.
I have had to move my blog offshore as well and a second one is soon to follow. I got my account from HostGator.com
Hi Guy, strange you should comment on my blog today, I am going to try as hard as possible to host locally. I have seen your company website today via your site enough is enough.
Unfortunately I cannot host SA ROCKS on your host thanks to enough is enough. I didnt appreciate the way that that blog puts its message across, I think there are better ways to do it that are less aggressive and more effective.
You should really be careful about saying the things that you say on that blog and then pitching a business hosting plan to clients. An online profile is a powerful tool to build, or destroy a business.
Just a thought.
Thanks for the though qDot: As I have said already to Guy, I am going to try my hardest to host locally even if that means purchasing my own server!! Maybe you would like to host locally with me when I get that done!!
It’ll be cheap cheap!!

Paul here, I was at the 27 dinner
Email me as I have a plan.
Nic, I do not know what your bandwidth and diskspace requirements are for SA Rocks. Have you tried Hetzner.co.za for options.
They are pretty reliable and offer great solutions.
It must be really frustrating being a victim of your own success, although I would love to have that problem (I think)!?!
I surveyed some of the top SA blogs about, amongst others, where they hosted their blog. Check out the results here. http://eishcoza.blogspot.com/2007/05/sa-top-blogs-bandwidth-survey-results.html
Eish: I know, should I be happy the site was down or do I get bleak about it? Who’s to know, thank i’ll be checking those stats ASAP.
Melt: Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll pop on over there as soon as I can!!
funny you should say that, enough is enough is my busiest blog, I host a few
Hi Guy,
Yes I know you host a few, I’ve done my research. I find it odd that you have enough is enough and then a blog promoting your local area too. Very confusing!
I am sure that EIE is your most read blog, people love to hear other people bitch and moan. It’s easier than being positive I suppose!
Goodluck with that I guess.
