RSS Blogs Publishing Other Peoples Blog Posts

by Nic Haralambous on 11/04/2007

I have recently noticed that pingbacks I am receiving on many of my posts are from blogs that are simply ripping off RSS from various other blogs that they can get their grubby paws on to. Can anyone explain this to me??

Here is a list of a couple that I have noticed:

UPDATE:
Thanks to grandMasterkrust, I have found and installed a few plugins that will hopefully be solutions to an apparently large problem. Go figure. Check out these links if you are experiencing the same problem as I have been:

Google juice would be my guess. Better page ranks for the RSS pirates. Turn ping backs off. And they go away eventually. Or i think there is a plug-in for wordpress that automatically slips a copyright notice into your feeds. Marking them as yours.

Awesome! Thanks, I have been looking since your last comment and keep finding sites that take me from one useless neverending link to another!!!

I came across a blog that looked suspicious and was surprised to see a comment from you there. You were dealing with a ’scraping’ issue and trying to get a response.

Feed scraping is a big problem and I have had to deal with it too. Add these links to your list if you want. I will have a look at the ones you posted. Information is power – especially when fighting something like this.
